Custom wording on the portal
The page someone opens from their link is written in WorkZerk's words. Their requests sit under "What we need from you", the two panels above are "Important notes" and "Your notes", and once everything is answered a bar says "Everything is answered. / Check your answers, then send them to finish. / Send my answers".
Those defaults are fine until they are not. "Send my answers" is right for a questionnaire and wrong for a pack that is mostly documents. The Wording tab rewrites all of it, for one portal or for every portal on your account.
Where it is
Open the portal, click the gear beside its name (Portal Settings), then the Wording tab.
The People section at the top is the word for the people you onboard, covered in what you call your people. Everything below it appears only once the portal has been saved.
Blank means inherit
Every box starts empty, and empty means "use what I would otherwise get". The gray text inside each box shows that wording, so you can see what you are replacing. Clear a box and save, and the inherited words come back. A heading can never end up blank: a box holding only spaces counts as empty.
Reset all wording, top right of the Requests section, empties every box below the People section except the completion message. Nothing is written until you press Save.
What you can reword
Requests. The Section heading above their list (default "What we need from you"), and an Intro shown above the list. The intro has no default, so nothing shows until you write one. It is where "please complete everything below before May 1" belongs.
Submit bar, shown once everything is answered: its Heading ("Everything is answered."), Subheading ("Check your answers, then send them to finish.") and Button ("Send my answers").
Completion message. Replaces "Thanks, that is everything we need for now. If anything needs changing, we will let you know." after they send their answers, and appears in the confirmation email they get. Plain text.
Notes panels. The headings of the two panels at the top of their page: Portal-wide notes, which everyone sees ("Important notes"), and Personal notes, just for them ("Your notes"). The heading is the only thing telling a reader which is which, so make it say so.
Notes box. The box people write back into: its Heading ("Notes to us"), the Question under it ("Anything we should know? Add it here.") and the gray Example answer inside it. This section appears only when Notes to admin is ticked on the Options tab. What it asks decides what comes back.
Limits: 2,000 characters for the intro, 1,000 for the completion message, 300 for the question, 200 for the example answer, 120 for the section heading and subheading, 80 for the other headings, 40 for the button.
One portal, or all of them
At the bottom is Use the wording above on my other portals too. Tick it and save, and every box you filled in becomes your account's wording. The People words and the completion message are not included.
The account wording is a live fallback, not a copy. It reaches existing portals as well as new ones, wherever a portal has no wording of its own for that box. Two things follow:
- A portal with its own words keeps them. Anything you save on a portal overrides the account wording for that box. Clear the box on that portal to put it back on the account wording.
- Blank boxes are skipped. The checkbox only sets or replaces account wording, it never clears it. To change an account line, type the new wording, tick the box and save.
Where your words show up
On the page each person opens from their link, and on its printable copy. The completion message also appears in the confirmation email.
Your own screens keep the standard headings, so your Requests panel still says Requests however it reads to them.
Changes land on the next page load, so someone with the page already open sees the new wording after a refresh.
