Deleting your account
Closing your account removes everything on it: your portals, your contacts, every request you sent and every document that came back. It runs in two steps. Confirming signs you out and schedules the deletion, and the wipe itself happens 48 hours later. Until then you can sign back in and restore the account.
Where it is
Account, then the Danger zone card, then Delete account.
Only the account owner sees that card. If someone is switched into your account through account sharing, it is hidden from them and the page refuses the action, so nobody else can close your account for you.
Confirming
The confirmation page asks for your password again, so a signed-in tab left open on a shared machine is not one click away from destroying the account.
Enter it, click Schedule deletion, and you are signed out on the spot. You also get an email at your account address giving the exact date and time (in UTC) the permanent deletion will run.
The 48 hours
Between confirming and the wipe, the account sits in a recoverable state.
You cannot use it. Signing in takes you to the Restore page and nowhere else.
Nobody you share the account with can use it either. Anyone with access through account sharing loses it the moment you confirm, and gets it back if you restore.
Your data is still there. Nothing has been deleted yet.
Portal links stop working. From the moment you confirm, anyone who opens a link you sent them gets a page-not-found message instead of their portal, and cannot submit anything. Restore the account and the same links work again. Once the deletion runs, they are gone for good.
Changing your mind
Sign in at app.workzerk.com with your usual email and password. Instead of the app you get a page headed "Your account is scheduled for deletion", telling you how long is left. Click Restore my account and the scheduled deletion is cancelled. Everything is exactly as you left it.
Signing in on its own does not cancel anything. If you sign in and close the tab without clicking Restore, the deletion still runs on schedule.
Leave it too late and the Restore page will not help you: once the scheduled time passes, it signs you out and sends you to the login page rather than offering a button that races the deletion.
What goes
When the deletion runs, everything the account holds is removed in one pass:
- Your login itself.
- Every portal, with its notes, files, links and timeline.
- Every contact, including tags, custom fields and anything you saved against them.
- Every request, every answer, every uploaded document, and every terms acceptance.
- Your file library, tasks and workflows, automations and branding themes.
- Your email history: what was sent, to whom, and the delivery record.
- Every share link and token, which is when portal links stop working.
- Your billing record with our payment provider, which ends the subscription.
There is no undo after that point and no copy kept on our side. Signing up again later with the same address gives you a genuinely empty account.
Worth doing first
Take an export. Export my data gives you a ZIP of your portals, contacts, requests and answers. Do it before you confirm, and open it to check. Documents people uploaded to your requests are not in that ZIP, so if you need those, ask us for them before you start the clock. See exporting your data.
Tell anyone mid-onboarding. If people are partway through a portal, their link dies when the deletion runs. Give them a deadline or collect what you need first.
Check who else is using the account. Anyone you shared it with loses access as soon as you confirm.
If you only want to stop paying, cancel the subscription instead (see managing billing). That leaves the account and its data alone.
If you cannot sign in to cancel
Use Forgot password? on the sign-in page. It works on an account scheduled for deletion, as long as your email address was verified. Reset the password, sign in, and you land on the Restore page.
If you cannot get into the email either, write to [email protected] as soon as you can. If we hear from you inside the 48 hours we may be able to stop it. After that, there is nothing left to stop.
Getting help
Not sure whether you want to delete or only pause? Email [email protected] and describe what you are trying to achieve. Deleting is the one action here that cannot be walked back.
