Monthly email allowance

emails-and-notifications

WorkZerk sends email on your behalf: invites, reminders, rejection notices, and anything your automations send. Each of those uses your monthly email allowance. The meter is at the top of Emails under Email sending, with how many you have used, how many are left, and the date it resets.

How much you get

On a free trial, 200 a month. On a paid subscription, 1,000 a month. The bar turns amber when you are down to the last fifth and red when there is nothing left.

There is also a daily limit of 300 on every plan. It is there to stop one runaway afternoon rather than to ration normal use, and a day that reaches it is nearly always a mistake worth catching.

What counts as one

One email to one person is one. A batch of forty invites is forty.

These use the allowance:

  • Emailing someone their private link, one at a time or in a batch.
  • Telling someone an upload was rejected, or that their status changed.
  • Asking someone to re-sign updated terms.
  • The confirmation someone gets when they self-register on a portal.
  • The email that goes out when someone finishes everything you asked for.
  • Any automation email.
  • Inviting a colleague to share your account, and the confirmation link when you change your sign-in email.

Nothing the other person does costs you anything. Opening their link, uploading a document, answering a question, and accepting terms are all free. The weekly summary is free too.

When you run out

The send is refused and a message tells you which limit you hit. Only the email is stopped, not the action behind it. Reject an upload with no allowance left and the rejection still applies; the person is not told by email. The same goes for a status change.

Most refused sends are listed in Activity under Not sent, with the reason. Invites in a batch are the exception: once the allowance runs out partway through, the rest of the batch is skipped and those people do not appear in Activity.

On a trial, subscribing on the Billing page raises the limit to 1,000 straight away. On a paid plan, contact us about a custom plan if 1,000 is genuinely not enough.

When it resets

On the first of each month, counted in UTC. The meter shows the date in your own time zone. Unused allowance does not carry over.

The count is per account, not per person, so a colleague you share the account with uses the same allowance.

Staying under it

Onboarding comes in bursts, and the bursts are what catch people out. Two habits help.

Send invites in batches rather than one at a time, so you can check the list before it goes and cancel it if it is wrong. And let reminder automations do the chasing instead of prompting everyone by hand: a reminder to the six people who have not finished costs six emails, while a manual sweep of the whole list costs the whole list.

Getting help

If the meter does not look right, email [email protected] with roughly when you noticed and we will take a look.
