Sidebar navigation and search

getting-started

The WorkZerk sidebar has eleven rows. Most are settings you visit once, and two of them, Requests and Portals, are where you spend nearly all your time. This is the tour.

Where you land

Signing in puts you on Requests, and so does typing the bare address. It is the working screen: everything across every portal that needs a decision from you, from who is still outstanding to what is waiting on your approval, expiring, or rejected. On most days you are clearing what came in, not building, so the app opens there.

The sidebar, top to bottom

On a wide screen the sidebar stays on the left. On a narrower one it folds behind the menu button at the top left.

While your account still has setup steps left, a Setup guide sits above the list with your progress and the next step. It goes away once everything on it is done, or you can hide it.

  • Requests sits first because it is the one you open most. See the Requests screen.
  • Contacts is everyone you have ever onboarded, across every portal: their details, every document they gave you, every set of terms they signed. Under it, the statuses link (named after your word for people, so "Person statuses" unless you have changed it) holds the compliance states you move people through. Open Contacts and Import CSV appears too, for bringing in an existing list.
  • Portals is where you create, open and close portals. If you have renamed portals, the row uses your word.
  • Tasks is your own follow-up work, plus the Workflows you reuse as checklists on portals. Open it and Procedures appears beneath, which prints every workflow as a manual.
  • Automations is the rules that chase for you: invite reminders, expiry prompts, rejection follow-ups, completion notices.
  • Fields defines custom contact fields, so an answer has a permanent home on the person rather than inside one submission.
  • Files is your own reusable library: policy PDFs and induction packs you attach to requests. What people send you lives on their contact record, not here.
  • Reports covers outstanding requests, response speed, request answers, expiring documents, portals, people, contacts, procedures and terms history. Every report exports to CSV.
  • Branding puts your logo and colors on the page your people open.
  • Emails is your sending allowance, any invite batch waiting to go out, and a log of everything WorkZerk has sent for you.
  • Terms is your versioned agreements: contractor agreements, policies, codes of conduct.

The badges

Three rows can show a number, and each means something different.

  • Tasks: open tasks assigned to you personally, not to the whole account.
  • Automations (orange): emails queued in their review hold, not yet sent. A nudge to check them before they go.
  • Emails (red): mail from the last week that bounced, failed or never sent. Red because that one is a problem.

All three hide at zero.

Hiding rows you never use

Next to the Manage label above the list is a ... button. It opens Customise menu, with a toggle for every row and one for the setup guide.

Turn a row off and it disappears straight away. There is no Save button. Show all brings everything back.

The choice applies to your login only, so hiding a row does not hide it for a colleague sharing the account. A hidden row still works; it is only out of your way.

Finding a specific thing

There is no single search box for the whole app. Each list has its own.

  • A person: Contacts. The search matches name, email and mobile, so part of a phone number finds someone whose surname you cannot spell.
  • A portal: Portals, which searches by name. Closed portals are hidden until you tick Show closed portals.
  • A document someone sent you: open the person in Contacts. Their record holds everything they have submitted, whichever portal it came in on.
  • Something waiting on you: Requests. If it is outstanding, expiring, rejected or awaiting approval, it is already there.

The top bar

  • The bell is your notifications: submissions, completions, self-registrations and anything that failed. See notifications and the bell.
  • Account holds your profile, billing and account settings.
  • Team is where you share the account with colleagues. See sharing your account.
  • The question mark opens this help centre in a new tab.
  • Sign out is at the far right.

On a narrower screen, Account, Team, help and Sign out move into a menu.
