Profile and display name

account-and-billing

Your profile is the set of settings attached to the account itself rather than to any one portal: what you are called, how you sign in, the account's clock, and what the app calls the things inside it. Open it from Account, then Edit profile.

It has three tabs: Profile, Wording and Email. Each card has its own Save button that touches nothing else.

Profile

Setup guide. Shows or hides the setup checklist in the sidebar, and links to the full guide. The setting is yours alone, so hiding it does not hide it for a teammate.

Display name. A name for you or your business, up to 100 characters, for example "Acme Staffing". It is optional; leave it blank and your email address shows instead.

It shows at the top right of the app and on the Account page, and in a few places other people see: the account name printed on your procedures manual, the account name on a downloaded terms PDF, the name in an invitation to share your account, and the sender name on a portal link you email to a client contact. It does not appear on a portal itself. What someone sees when they open their link is your branding theme.

Time zone. The account's clock. It decides which day a document expires on, whether a task is overdue, when your weekly summary goes out, and the date on every timestamp. Set it before you start collecting documents. Time zones has more.

Change email. The address you sign in with, changed in two steps. Type the new address and click Send confirmation, then click the link we email to the new address. Nothing changes until that link is clicked, so your old address keeps working meanwhile. Your current address also gets an email saying a change was requested.

The domain of this address is also what your portal links tell people about you ("This page is run by an account with a verified yourcompany.com email address"). If you signed up with a personal address (Gmail, Outlook and the like), those pages say so, a notice at the top of WorkZerk says so too, and this is where you fix it: change to an address on your own domain and confirm it.

Some limits:

  • Typing your current address sends nothing and tells you "That's already your sign-in email."
  • An address another account already uses gets no link. The page shows the same message either way, and that message says no link is sent in that case.
  • You can ask for a change 5 times an hour, and each request counts toward your account's email allowance.

Keep the address verified. An unverified address still signs you in, and you can still build portals, add people and copy links, but WorkZerk sends no email on your behalf (automations included) and your portal links do not open for anyone until you verify. The card shows "(unverified)" beside your address, and a banner at the top of the app takes you to verify it with a 6-digit code.

Change password. Enter your current password, then the new one twice. It needs at least 12 characters. You stay signed in on this browser, and every other session (your phone, the laptop at home) is signed out the next time it loads a page. Use this if you think someone is signed in somewhere they should not be.

Change email and Change password are hidden while somebody is switched into your account through account sharing, and both refuse a teammate. Your login stays yours.

Document retention. How long an approved file is kept before WorkZerk deletes it. Off until you choose otherwise. Deleting documents after you approve them explains the options.

Wording

Two words are yours to set. Lowercase reads best, because the app capitalizes them where it needs to.

Portal wording. The word for your portals, singular and plural, up to 40 characters each. "Portals" out of the box, but "onboarding", "packs" or "jobs" all work, and the change carries across the navbar, the list and the rest of the app.

People wording. The word for the people you share links with, singular and plural, up to 50 characters each. Pick from the list (people, staff, volunteers, contractors and others) or type your own.

This one works differently. The word is stored on each portal, so this card sets the starting point for new portals. Portals you already have keep the word they were created with; change those one at a time from the portal's Options tab. What you call your people has more.

Email

The wording of the emails your account sends (invites, document prompts, completion receipts) is not on this tab. It is in Automations, where each of those emails is an editable template. The Email wording card here is a shortcut to it.

Getting help

If a confirmation email for an address change has not arrived, check spam, and make sure the address is spelled correctly and is not already used by another WorkZerk account (no link is sent in that case). Then try again from the same card. If it still does not appear, email [email protected] from an address you can currently receive at.
